Pennsylvania Family Opts for Quality Time and Home at Glen Burn

“Both my husband and I have stressful jobs,” observes Lisa McManus, who is a general counsel for Pittsburgh General Energy Company… while her husband is a police officer in Elk County, in northwest Pennsylvania. Not surprisingly, their number one way to 'de-stress' is to spend time in Ellicottville. For years, Lisa says they'd make the hour and a half trek to Ellicottville numerous times a year in order to visit friends, enjoy the outdoors and explore the town's numerous shops, restaurants and night life. “There were times we'd go up mid-week just for the day, go home that evening and then head back up on the weekend. We visited so often that after a while a lot of our friends who already had a place said we were crazy not to get a place of our own; and it made sense to us as well,” says Lisa.

After embarking on a house hunting mission and looking at 'a lot of units' they discovered Glen Burn Trail and as Lisa recalls “we fell in love instantly. It was so well-decorated and well-constructed. You could tell it was a quality built home. And to us the location was ideal because we could walk into town and our kids didn't have to wait around for a ride either.”

The family has owned at Glen Burn Trail for almost a year now (they moved in last July) and Lisa feels it has been one of the best decisions they've ever made. And while Ellicottville is better known as a 'ski town' and they are all skiers, Lisa says they enjoy the 'green season' just as much. “We love to hike and this summer we're going to be doing a lot of mountain biking.”

Adding to the overall 'fun factor' Lisa says the family always looks forward to the town's numerous events, including the Lobster Bake at the Ellicottville Brewing Company and the Chamber's Taste of Ellicottville. “There's always lots of fun things to see and do in town, but also so many other great places nearby you can easily drive to such as Letchworth (State Park).”

As for their après adventure experience, one of the favorite places they enjoy is their home in Glen Burn Trail. “We have a lot of living space on our ground floor, with an open concept so that as soon as you walk in, we're all together whether you're in the kitchen, bar area or living room. And the people here in our development are so friendly. Everyone we've met so far is delightful.”
